Bored...

K, not really BORED... but with my littles gone and I can't do much physically... I'm goofing around too much on the computer. I've worked on the schooling preparations as much as I can and there are times when you need a break from that.

I can now walk for short jaunts without the crutches, but prefer to have them close at hand in case my knee or ankles act up. The cut is healing up and looks better each day. My left ankle is still super swollen, but I’m hoping that will get better by the time I see the dr. next (Sept. 6th).

Out of my free time I put together a little collage of where we stayed on our anniversary. Here it is:

Stitches are out!!!

The doctor took the stitches out today, also had another x-ray done... this time my ankle. The ankle has no evidence of any broken bones or factures. So that is good. There may be some tissue damage, but we can address that later if I'm still having trouble with the knee/ankle.

It's a bit more painful at the moment, but I'm told that it should feel better soon since the stitches are pulling on the skin anymore.

I do have nerve damage to a small extent. Can't feel my leg from the cut down towards my ankle. That may or may not ever heal.

I'm having trouble walking as my ankle/knee are bothering me, but I will keep trying. Swelling in my foot may remain for months as I was told the cut has disrupted my lymphatic system and so the fluid can't get back out of my foot. Movement should help and if it gets really bad then I will elevate.

Update...

***See new updated pics/story here: Flickr.***

I went to the dr. again today, had the wound re-checked... they gave me better/more pain killers, told me I was doing too much and I have to be on bed-rest for 2 weeks. TWO WEEKS!!

Mike is doing great, the kids are very helpful and our family is awesome. Between Grammy Sue, Aunt Eve, my Mom and the many other family/friends helping out with meals & such - we are SO blessed.

I still have yet to actually SEE my own leg in person, I will look at the pictures, but can't look at it yet. When ER doctors are "impressed" and hospital staff are calling in colleagues or wishing they had THEIR camera handy... well, you don't need to SEE it to know it is bad.

Please keep up prayers for strength, healing and that no infections/or complications set in.

The "Accident"...

The "Accident"..., originally uploaded by Joyfulmommy.
***See new updated pics/story here: Flickr.***

K, for all those who saw the actual cut on my flickr account - SO sorry! I didn't mean for the picture to be sent to flickr. I had my hubby take a picture for ME so that once all was said & done I could peek at it later. One ER tech said it looked like a horror movie, another dr. asked me if it was a propeller accident, and a number of hospital staff had to come & see my "owie". Since I briefly saw it on the ferry after it happened, I knew it was bad... but not really HOW bad. I refused to look to keep me from getting nervous.

I tripped on the 3rd stair from the bottom so not a big fall... but there's metal on the ferry boat stairs that sliced my shin to the bone. 8 inches long in fact.

HOWEVER, we were truly blessed - No broken bones, very little blood, this happened on the way HOME - AFTER our lovely and wonderful anniversary weekend, there just "happened" (a total God'incidence) to be 2 ER doctors, an army nurse, and an EMT (along with a few other medical personnel) that were on vacation coming home from Orcas Island. So I was well cared for during the hour long ferry ride.

I removed the picture of my cut as it was VERY graphic... if anyone of you actually WANTS to see it, you can e-mail me.

by God's grace,
Alicia
