Leg Update 10-24-06

Well they sent me to a specialist in wound care yesterday (somehow I thought he was a surgeon and spent the past week working myself up that I would be getting cut back into - but it was just a Wound Care Specialist WHEW!!) and he feels he can turn the wound around and get it healing back up again. I got my culture back from the last wound cleaning and all the infection/bacteria is gone!!! Only took 5 batches of antibioitcs. ;o)

He did say that the clinic was trying to push the good stuff too fast, they have these great bandages with silver & collagen, etc... but there's too much dead stuff still in the wound and it can't heal up until that is gone. SO... that means I have to go back to the "mean cream". Can't think of the name off hand, but it is a cream that EATS AWAY at the dead stuff in the wound. You have to put a protective cream on the skin to make a barrier so that it doesn't break down the GOOD skin. And yes, it hurts - thus the name "Mean Cream". LOL!

Hopefully I only have to use that for a week and can discontinue it at my next appt. The specialist thinks it could be healed up in about 4-6 weeks. Which is a touch better than the previous thought of it being at least another 8 weeks.

Finally a GOOD appointment! Praise the Lord!!
