Spoke too soon...

Had to go back to the dr. office, the infection that I had on the leg is now on the wound and we are trying hard to keep it OUT of the wound... the cut is closed so it is more of a surface infection, but the nurse warned me that my skin on the wound is paper thin and if it gets into the wound we could be looking at a slight problem. SO, I'm back on antibiotics again.

I had that allergic reaction to the adhesives, which somehow turned into a staph infection (which I'm still trying to figure out how I got that since I keep it covered ALL the time, keep it clean and slathered with either silver ointment or antibiotic ointment) and so they think that the staph infection that was AROUND the wound never quite got eliminated from the last batch of antibioitcs and now it has located itself on the wound.

I will have to update after I have my next appt. which I will be making AFTER the antibiotics are all gone and I feel the infection is 100% gone. I am having a lot more pain/swelling in my ankle, so while the wound may be healing, there is a chance we might have another issue to deal with later. Hoping that whatever I'm experiencing is temporary.

ALL DONE!

I just had my LAST dr. appt. for my wound!! 23 weeks of dr. appts. all done!! Woohoo! They said it looks great and that there's no need to come back in for the wound unless it starts to open back up and that is very unlikely.

I will then have a dr. appt. soon to discuss the entire injury and discuss any problems I still have with swelling/numbness/pain. Everything is almost over with! Then begins the battle with the State Ferry system. Praying everything will go smoothly.

Quick update...

Leg is healing, maybe another week or two before it closes (hopefuly), rash from the adhesives and then the infection that resulted from that are gone (yay!), we are all fighting colds/tummy bugs/what-not... the past 2 weeks have been spent resting and trying to keep the kids from bouncing off the walls when they feel well enough to get off the couch.

Right now there's 3 of us still under the weather, but we are hoping everyone will be better in the next couple of days as this thing runs its course.

We had some excitment the other day when a tree next to our bedroom in our neighbors yard began to tip... it is still there and could quite possibly fall in our direction... we are praying that it misses our house and the neighbors and falls safely into a yard.
